Nico Rosberg has won the 2016 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku this Sunday afternoon after leading from start to finish. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel finished second while delighted Force India driver Sergio Perez made the podium in third place.
Nico Rosberg wins the European Grand Prix! So after the couple of terrible grand Prix’s Nico Rosberg is back as he won his fifth grand Prix of the season and very first Azerbaijan GP completing a dominating weekend in Baku. Rosberg has not extended his lead at top of the championship table to 24 points while Hamilton has 117 points on the table.
Overall it was a great debut GP in Baku where street circuit provided some drama but might not be enough to convince F1 fans and authorities.
Nico Rosberg will be delighted to get back to the winning ways and now has healthy 24 points lead at top of the table. Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari will be disappointed as they failed to challenge Mercedes for the title.
Mercedes got themselves back winning the grand prizes after a small hickup in Spain. Hamilton’s winning the race opens up the F1 title race with only 24 points separating the top 2.
This is how the driver’s standings look like after the first eight races of the season. Rosberg extended his lead at the top with 5 grand price wins and now has 141 points at the top while Lewis Hamilton sits second with 117 followed by Sebastian Vettel who has 96 points without a grand Prix win.
So 8 grand prizes down the line we move back to Europe where six back to back F1 grand Prix will take place starting with Austrian grand Prix on the weekend of 01-03 July 2016. Friday practice session will begin at traditional morning 10:00 am local / 09:00 am UK time while the Saturday’s qualifying will take place at 14:00 local /13:00 UK time. Formula 1 season move to first ever Azerbaijan Formula One Grand Prix next weekend which will be second back to back grand Prix in June. Known as European Grand Prix it will keep the traditional Friday practice, Saturday qualifying, and Sunday race weekend schedule. Taking place at the “Baku City Circuit” which is converted from normal street tracks.

2016 season promises to be one of the best in the recent years as both Ferrari, McLaren has made some great adjustments to keep the pace with Mercedes for the title race. So the championship title race was already finished with Hamilton winning his 10th grand Prix of the season in the United States but Nico Rosberg managed to overtake Vettel after winning Mexican, Brazilian, and Abu Dhabi grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton will start the defense of his F1 title in the opening grand Prix in Australia on 20th March 2016. All car manufacturers have released the designs of their new cars and pre-season testing will take place in Barcelona in the last week of February 2016.
