Valentino Rossi has won the 2016 Spanish Catalunya MotoGP grand prix having started fifth on the grid. He saw off the challenge from Marc Marquez in incredible last 6 laps to seal his second grand prix win of the season which sees him right back in the title race alongside the top two of Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez.

After incredible scenes in Italian Grand prix couple of weeks ago, Catalunya MotoGP produced yet another classic with a late battle between Marquez and Rossi. It is the second time in a month Marquez has lost from pretty much the winning position.

Jorge Lorenzo failed to finish the race and it leaves him at 125 points and his lead at top of the table is cut to just 10 points with Marquez not on 115 points while Valentino Rossi has put himself in the reckoning again with 103 points.

So 1 grand prix win points seperate the top three and with 7 races down in the season we are heading into business end of the 2016 season. Valentino Rossi was delighted with his win in Barcelona and rated it as one of the best wins of his career..

Dani Pedrosa continue to live in the shadows in the top 3 and with Jorge Lorenzo failing to finish the race Pedrosa managed a rare podium in third place. Now we move to Netherlands grand prix in Assen which will take place on the weekend of 24-25 June 2016.

Catalunya Grand Prix 2016 Results:
So it was a close finish with Valentino Rossi winning the race ahead of Marc Marquez after incredible dual between the two in the last six rounds. Dani Pedrosa takes third on podium while defending champion Lorenzo failed to finish the race.
